I was just awarded the 2007 Rick Felix Youth Entertainer of the Year!!! I am so excited!

Rick Felix was an incredibly talented entertainer and mentor who died tragically in a car wreck a few years ago. After his death, this award was started in his memory.
Those of you who knew Rick will agree that he was one-of-a-kind. I think he was one of the best entertainers I have ever heard.

Rick was very, very nice too and very supportive. Rick started working with me when I was 7 years old. He taught me some songs and worked with me on my yodeling. When I was 8 years old, I was invited to a festival. Well, there was a mix up in the schedule and I was not put on.
Rick was very upset. He was scheduled to appear on the mainstage that day and he told me to take his slot on that stage. I will never forget that. I’ve never met anyone like him.

He was very funny too. He made me laugh with his “tickle monster.”

I love his wife, Pam. ANd, felt so honored when Pam introduced me before she and Mary Brown gave me the award at the National Festival of the West.

We’ll be playing at the Festival of the West this year! I love this festival!
It’s held at a western town called Rawhide in Phoenix, AZ.
You’ll see a ton of awesome talent on 4 different stages!
We’ll be playing on the Pavillion Stage and the Main Street Stage on Friday and Sunday.
We have a show in Tucson on Saturday night.

We played an awesome venue last night in Phoenix!!! It was a resort and the folks there were very, very nice.
And, we didn’t get lost! We had mapquest and our great bass player leading the way!
GUESS WHAT????????????????
It started raining and snowing on our way home!!! I know that sounds weird to you guys living in snowy, winter climates but in Arizona it’s like a dream come true.
I loved every minute of it! Our windshield wipers were not working too well. I guess they dry out and need to be replaced. But, it was beautiful.
And there was enough on the ground to have a snowball fight and build a snowman.
Whoopeeeeeeeeeee!
